    Only the location

No good service. No remote for the TV in spite of ready to give 1000 Kenyan Shillings as they had none. No proper working lifts. Charges 5% on credit card transactions when you want to pay for the hotel bills. Have to pay for water when we have breakfast and very mean mentality.

    Superb

Staff were very friendly and helpful (Charles, Annette, Mary Ann to name a few...), and I always felt welcome, safe and well-cared for--something that was important to me as I was a young woman traveling alone in a city I did not know. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable and restaurant quite good. The bar/lounge area is also quite nice--the right combination of people having drinks, business meetings and relaxation. The hotel seems to be full of mostly African business or government workers, and thus feels professional. Wifi in the rooms was quite reliable. It is located right downtown, which is convenient. Many people think of Nairobi as dangerous, but I found that walking alone during the day was not a problem. The front desk advised me not to go out at night alone, but I never felt in danger during the day. On the contrary, that area of Nairobi feels like a lot of young, urban, wealthy professionals out and about. I also was glad to have the taxi desk in the hotel lobby, so I never had to worry about being ripped off by a cab driver or using an unsafe car.

Internet was included with Booked.net, but if I had gone through another travel website, it would have been very expensive. I did find one cockroach in my room, but given that it's a big city in a warm climate, I think this is quite good (even the fanciest hotels in Miami struggle with this!). Service was slow by American/European standards. Ordering even simple chicken and rice in the restaurant took over an hour (and most nights there were only a few people in the restaurant) and even getting the bill could take 20 minutes or more...I'm not sure why. Elevators were a bit questionable--almost got stuck in them at least once a day. It can be noisy at night, given the traffic outside (downtown) and the casino below. Pollution downtown can be pretty overwhelming-- I do not have allergies or asthma, but felt as though I did after walking and riding around downtown for a few days. It ended up being quite far from my meetings at the un and other ngo offices, but I was still glad to be downtown.

    Very good

The location is good. The security is also very good.

They don't have swimming pool in the hotel. They are providing voucher to go to other group hotel.

    Good

Closeness to the place I have come to work in Kenya

Mosquitoes and cockroaches in the room, also their is no blanket on the bed and the towels are nothing to write home about, very poor.

    * The cost - value ratio of this hotel is not good when you compare it with that of other hotels in Nairobi. * Despite using a creditcard, there had to be payed in advanced. No invoice atthat moment - that will be given when you are checking out. * Using a creditcard means $ 20 extra costs (!!) just because of the use of a creditcard. I think the qualification that creditcards are accepted has to be removed or a warning must be added!! * They use a very strange way of calculating the total costs from dollars (valuta used for creditcard) into Kenyan shilings. On my invoice there where costs charged for 5 nights while I stayed 4 nights. I asked my money back for that one night. That was not possible because I had payed with creditcard - they couldn't pay be back in cash. Can you understand that? I couldn't. I could get a gift voucher to use next time I come. The way the manager treated me was really without respect. After explaining the case to him he said: "Just a minute" and went into the office. He never came back. The receptionist confirmed that he was not coming back. THAT'S ALSO AWAY TO 'SOLVE' YOUR PROBLEMS - JUST WALK AWAY IN THE HOPE THE OTHER GOES TOO. I came back after a few day and spoke to a cashier who really new her business. She explained and we solved the issue.

Staff at the reception are friendly.

The guard checking every entry/exit into the room was a real nuisance!

My stay at the hotel did not break my pocket, budget friendly that is. It provided a good view of the city. The toilet was always clean.

Many things 1) The casino/bar downstairs made the hotel a very noisy and chaotic place to be during weekends 2) The breakfast was plain with no variety as I stayed there for 5 nights 3) I got locked out of my hotel room on my last night, even after paying for over 3 nights upon checking in and paying more on the 4th day. 4) The wireless connection is way too slow. 5) The hotel provides room fans/coolers and not air-conditioning as is stated on the Booked.net hence the effect of the coolers could hardy be felt 6) The bed was very uncomfortable. 7) Hardly any interesting stations to watch on Tv.

    The location

the staff where very curt and at some time rude. The fixtures in the room had some problems They over charged me on the exchange rate conversion and the credit card fee (5%+5% overall additional 10% on my booked value). This was a rip off.

  • 7.4
    Very good

    Central location and reasonable price

The fact that payment either by cheque or credit card involved carging in $us and then converting to Ksh so that one was never sure of the actual cost until making payment to the cashier, also the addition of a surcharge on credit cards which is not advised up front. The fact that you cannot charge back to the room account any meals and credit cards are not accepted below a set level of cost that is not advised up front. Lack of airconditioning but at least the fan in the room helped
